How does a solar system offset my energy use?
Solar panel systems produce electricity during daylight hours. This electricity is then fed to your circuit breaker panel offsetting any energy being used at that time.
Energy NOT being used at the time of production charges the solar battery. The battery discharges to the household, if there is not enough sun to cover the electricity used. Having a solar system and a solar battery re-priorities where your energy comes from: #1 Solar - #2 Battery - #3 Grid.
How much is being offsett by solar depends upon system size and how & when you use energy. Every household is different, that's why it is important to analyze each household individually.
What is the process for installing a solar energy system?
We handle everything from design to installation.
First, we assess your energy needs, then design a custom system and review it with you. Next we obtain the permit and submit your interconnect application to SDG&E. Installation itself takes between 2-3 days depending upon project. Once completed, we call for building inspection. Following a successful inspection, the inspector with 'release the meter' to the utility. The utility then processes the meter release and issues 'PTO' (Permission to Operate). Once PTO is granted, we will commission the system and you will be given access to the monitoring portal.
